FUNDRAISING ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() WAYS TO GIVE Donate Online Now Available!"Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile. We cannot live a full life unless we have a purpose bigger than ourselves." ~Albert Einstein Contributions play a critical role in Great Plains Academy's financial plan. We are grateful that over the years many thousands of dollars have been donated to the school by the Alumni and other donors. These donations continue to provide necessary upgrades, student financial assistance, and enhanced programming.
You too can be involved by donating money, time, and gifts in kind (as described below). Gifts often enjoy a tax deductible basis. Annual Fund
An unrestricted donation that can be used in a variety of ways depending on needs such as worthy student scholarships, equipment, and capital needs. Endowment
This donation is kept in an interest-bearing account. The interest made from the principal amount is used for scholarships or however designated. Named endowments can be given or a contribution made to our general endowment fund. Current endowments: Wood Endowment Fund
Worthy Student Scholarships
This donation will go to work immediately in providing scholarships for GPA students. Many of our students are in need of financial assistance to be able to attend GPA. Plan for Your Future
Alumni and friends of Great Plains Academy can choose to remember the academy in their wills or through trusts. In addition, you can enter into deferred gift plans such gift annuities and irrevocable trusts, which provide a lifetime income to the donor. At the decease of the donor, the principal of the gift comes to the academy. You can also make gifts such as real estate, stock or saleable personal property. Don't leave your loved ones and family with unexpected legal problems and unnecessary financial burdens. Plan for your future now and at the same time keep the torch burning for Adventist Christian education at Great Plains Academy. Securities Transferring securities—stocks, bonds, or mutual funds—that have been held long-term to GPA allow you to receive a charitable deduction for the full, fair market value of the securities. Giving securities that have appreciated in value also allows you to avoid capital gains tax. Life Insurance You can donate a life insurance policy to GPA or simply name the academy as the beneficiary. For the gift of a paid-up policy, you will receive an income tax deduction equal to the lesser of the cash value of the policy or the total premiums paid. To qualify for the federal charitable contribution deduction on a gift of an existing policy, you must name us as owner and beneficiary. To make a significant future gift at a relatively low cost, you may do so through a new life insurance policy. Gifts-in-Kind You can contribute a non-cash gift of tangible property. Examples include office equipment and furnishings, supplies for medical mission trips, vehicles, teaching supplies and equipment, and musical instruments. The academy reserves the right to accept or refuse a gift-in-kind. A letter will be provided for those gifts accepted; however, the donor will be responsible for determining the charitable value of the gift. Matching Gifts Many corporations or businesses match their employees’ charitable gifts with a contribution of equal or greater value. A matching gift may be initiated by completing your company’s matching gift form and sending it with your gift to GPA. Check with your human resources or personnel office to determine if your employer has a matching gift program and if your gift qualifies for a corporate match.
